Back to School

You may notice the word ěKoinoniaî in the blogroll box on the right side of the screen. koinonia is the Greek word for fellowship. It is one of my favorite words, despite the fact that my School of Theology feels it needs to foster this amongst its students. Now, at first you might think this is a good thingóbringing people with similar interests, similar strong faiths, together in one, loving community. You would be wrong.

I am prolific, not obsessed, thank you very much

Updating a blog three times a day is entirely too much. At this rate I will run out of interesting things to say in exactly 7.2 days. I am not worried about this, however. After that point I intend to just make stuff up. Hemingway once said, ?All writers are liars.? I believe this. I feel that creative writing allows me to sublimate my natural gifts and talents for exaggeration. And I don?t consider what I do lying per se, but rather, ?creating personal mythology.?

That?s my story and I?m sticking to it.

Running
So, with only three months to go until the Boston Marathon, I need to start putting some serious mileage on the olí pedometer. However, the cruel forces of nature are not making my altruistic pursuits easy. Now, believe me when I say I want to run outside (as much as I ěwantî to run anywhere). The Charles River is frozen and the geese like to take flying dives and slide across the ice, like they are children playing. The snow is blown into the sky, reflecting the sun like a thousand tiny diamonds floating around your face. And the city sparkles against a clear, blue sky. Surely, one would think, running in such a place would be inspiring, nay, life-changing. That would be if this winter fairy land werenít 10 degrees and falling. Tiny diamonds floating around your face might sound enchanting, but the allure fades when you realize that they are not in fact gems, but instead millions of demon-possessed knives bent on your utter destruction.

Blog on Baby
So, thanks to the fabulous Shara (who will probably be taking out a restraining order any day now since I email her about 16 times an hour) I am now blogging. I have to repress the urge to say things like, "Aww yeah, bloggity goodness," or to chant "Blog, blog, blog, blog; blog, blog, blog, blog, etc."

I like the word blog. It's fun to say.

Blog.

Anyway, herein I shall be recording my "progress" pertaining to: A) Obtaining a doctorate in theology,
